David G. Young, III, MDFACP, Brig. General, USAF (Ret.)/President & CEO, REES GroupDavid G. Young, III, MD, FACP, Brigadier General, USAF (Ret) is currently President and CEO of REES Group, which provides strategic planning, architecture and interior design services for medical, government and senior living facilities. He also serves as a Director and Senior Vice President of American University Healthcare, Inc., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Board Member, REES Associates Architects, Dallas, Texas; Board Member, REES San Antonio; Co-Chair of the Trauma Task Force Committee and on the Medical Education Committee of San Antonio Mayor’s Military Transformation Task Force; Air Force Village Executive Board, Chair of Village 1 and member of the Facilities Committee; and Board Member of the San Antonio Medical Foundation. As President and CEO of REES Group, he is working in collaboration with American University Healthcare and private investors in Nigeria, to develop a US standard medical center in the capitol city, Abuja, and the largest medical center in Baghdad Iraq. He remains committed to hospital development in the developing world. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and remains clinically active as a volunteer at a weekly internal medicine clinic at WHMC/SAMMC – South. Prior to becoming President and CEO of REES Group, Dr. Young retired as Brigadier General and Wing Commander, 59th Medical Wing, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. In 2007, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the military’s third highest award. While at Lackland Air Force Base, he led the Air Force's largest medical facility with a staff of 5,400 military, civilian, contract employees, residents and students. Additionally as the Department of Defense Multiservice Market Manager for TRICARE San Antonio, he oversaw four medical treatment facilities in the San Antonio metropolitan area and directed a $1.2 billion budget providing health care for more than 204,000 beneficiaries. General Young also served as the Assistant Surgeon General for the Medical Corps. In this role, he served as the adviser to the Air Force Surgeon General on policies concerning its more than 3,700 Air Force physicians, and as alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. Dr. Young is a widely published, highly decorated and awarded physician and flight surgeon. Prior to becoming Brigadier General, he was a chief flight surgeon with more than 800 hours in a wide variety of aircraft. He has commanded three medical groups and was Command Surgeon, Pacific Air Forces, as well as Lead Agent for TRICARE Pacific and Gulfsouth Regions. While serving as PACAF Command Surgeon, he supported the execution of operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom by providing highly trained and superbly equipped health care teams. He also served as Lead Agent for TRICARE Pacific and implemented comprehensive health care coverage for DOD members and their families in 43 countries. In his role as Command Surgeon he advocated for the adaptation of the KC-135 as an aeromedical airframe asset. Further, General Young identified the need for and authorized the design requirements for patient care sets based on the 463L pallet - a prototype whose value was initially proven in the Pacific and subsequently brought to service with great success as patient support pallets during operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
