David Smith

Vice President, Technology Futures, Inc.

A noted strategist, futurist, and technologist with over 30 years of experience, Mr. Smith offers expertise in technology transfer, strategic and technology planning, communications, roadmapping, consortia startup and management, and collaborative alliances.

Since joining TFI in 1996, he has assisted in creating and implementing plans for such organizations as the Boeing, CIA, Coca-Cola, Department of Defense, Hughes, Intel, Kodak, Kyocera, Lockheed Martin, National Security Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and Sun Microsystems. Recent keynotes speeches include U.S. Senate Conference on Emerging Technology, CIO Leadership Conference, MEMS International Conference, and Lockheed-Martin Technology Leadership Conference. David’s views on technology trends are often prominently featured in newspapers and industry publications.

He has held key positions in SEMATECH and the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC), and is a senior research fellow at UT's IC2 Institute.
