Ian Clements

Co-Founder & CEO, ViroXis
Ian Clements is co-founder and CEO of ViroXis, a San Antonio based botanical drug development company with a portfolio of drug candidates build around the oils of different species of the Sandalwood tree. Ian has broad experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries including sales and marketing, medical affairs, product and clinical development, project and product management as well as commercial, corporate and business development. Ian  specializes in optimizing clinical and project development for start up companies, before joining ViroXis. Ian was co-founder & CEO of C2XL Corporation, a business management consulting from start-up to blue chip clients  and founder & advisor of INQUATE Corporation, a strategic management software solutions company that helps healthcare companies create High Performance Organizations (HPO).

Ian has 20 years of experience in Senior Sales and Marketing, and Business Development positions, including head of oncology product management at Lederle labs in UK, head of global oncology product management at the Upjohn company where he managed the global launch of Camptosar and head of US oncology marketing for Novartis launching 3 new products in 3 years. Recently, Ian served for 6 years as head of Commercial Operations and Corporate Development for ILEX Oncology in San Antonio where he established the new Business Development and Medical Affairs departments. While at ILEX he helped optimized the Project Management systems for oncology clinical development. He headed the clinical and medical development activities for Campath in solid organ transplantation and MS and helped gain regulatory approval for Clofarabine.

Ian received his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Genetics from Swansea University, UK and his M.Sc. in Immunology from King’s College, London, UK.
